The West Side Market in Cleveland is a fabulous holdover from a former era, when area farmers and merchants offered their products directly to local consumers. Although the market itself dates back to 1840, the current Neo-Classical building was constructed in 1912 by the Cleveland architectural firm of Hubbel and Benes, costing $680,000. With it’s landmark clocktower and magnificent Guastavino vault, it remains one of the city’s grandest buildings.
