To be honest, The Otis would not have been my first Austin hotel choice. Or even my second, for that matter. But, when last minute travel happens, you take what’s available. To be fair, it’s a decent hotel. It just didn’t do much for me.
That said, it’s in a great central location, and does have a fabulous rooftop space, with a small pool, bar, and views of the skyline. The lobby and rooms feel a bit corporate and generic Austin; it’s not really a hotel that leaves a lasting impression.
Honestly, I actually didn’t even remember the name of the hotel without searching for it. In hindsight, I would have just paid less for the AC located right next door, which had the same chain hotel vibe, but there may be those who enjoy the extra amenities offered at The Otis.
