The Meadows G.C.- White Sulphur Springs, WV
The magnificent Greenbrier offers numerous outdoor pursuits, including several fantastic golf courses. Among the best is The Meadows, formerly known as Lakeside, a 1911 Alexander H. Findlay design.
Originally a nine hole track, it has been redesigned several times over the years, first by Seth Raynor in 1923, then later by Dick Wilson in 1962, who used dirt excavated from the famous Greenbrier Bunker to expand the course to 18 holes.
In 1999, the course was further updated by Bob Cupp, and renamed The Meadows. Affected by devastating floods in 2016, the course reopened in 2017 with reconstructed greens and sod bunkers. While it may not be the most famous course at the resort, it is insanely scenic, and features several memorable holes.
Like everything at The Greenbrier, the round is pricey, but worth the splurge at least once; unlike The Old White, no caddie is required, lending a more casual feel to the round.
