The Phoencian Golf Course- Scottsdale, AZ
When the Phoenician Golf Course opened in 1981, it featured 27 holes designed by Jack Snyder. It probably also featured a lot less construction- at least for a few years, until the resort opened. Today, it seems like the course is in danger of being devoured by development- ironically in some places by golf villas.

We-Ko-Pa Golf Course: Cholla- Fort McDowell, AZ
As some who dislikes houses along fairways, the two courses at We-Ko-Pa (yavapai for "four peaks") are my favorites in the Valley. Here, the only distractions are the stunning Supersition mountains and a few javalinas.

Pinnacle Peak Trail- Scottsdale, AZ
While Camelback may be the most popular mountain hike in the Phoenix area, Pinnacle Peak is just as scenic, and quite a bit easier. You can also reach the summit in under an hour, so if you don't have a lot of time, this hike's for you.

Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North- Scottsdale, AZ
Just like golf courses, there are no shortages of hotels and resorts in Scottsdale. With so many options, staying at them all would be an impossible task, but I'm determined to give it a try (omitting those with waterparks of course). I do give preference to those with golf courses to make things easy, which led to me to the Four Seasons Troon North. It did not disappoint.

Troon North Monument Golf Course- Scottsdale, AZ
Choosing golf courses for a Scottsdale trip is an incredibly difficult task. The sheer numbers are dizzying, with 50 courses close in, and over 200 in the greater Valley area. Even the number of top rated courses is in the double digits. However you finally get to your own short list, Troon North Monument Course should be on it.
