Banyan Tree Mayakoba- Playa del Carmen, MX
Years ago, I watched a golf tournament played on an unbelievably beautiful course. The fairways were surrounded by dense jungle, flanked by a network of mangrove canals. I immediately vowed to visit one day, to wind through the wild waterways in an impossibly quaint little boat emblazoned with Mayakoba on the back. That day arrived in 2024.

Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa- La Fortuna, Costa Rica
Tabacón Thermal Resort is an absolute dream. Like a trip to Fantasy Island, sans seaplane and Mr. Rourke (and supernatural scenarios). It's the embodiment of every tropical vacation you have ever longed for (minus the beach), and its memory will carry you through even the coldest of future winters.

Marriott Hacienda Belen- San Jose, Costa Rica
While I usually avoid chain hotels, Marriott's Hacienda Belen is located very close to San Jose's Juan Santamaría International airport, making it an incredibly convenient place to stay before or after a flight. They even provide an airport shuttle, making it an ideal place to start or end a Costa Rica vacation.

River Marsh Golf Course- Cambridge, MD
Based on the course's location, I was expecting more Choptank River adjacent holes. That was a mistake. While kept in good condition, overall the course was just average, and not worth its resort course price in my option.

Links at Perry Cabin- St. Michaels, MD
Despite its name, the Links at Perry Cabin is not a links course. There are far too many trees, and not enough sand or gorse. Not to mention the lack of water views. It is, however, a beautiful course designed by Pete, Alice and PB Dye, with several memorable holes.
