Silver Birches- Hawley, PA
Silver Birches is one of the last remaining vintage lakeside Poconos resorts. A fabulous throwback to an earlier era, the sprawling property retains its original summer camp like vibe, albeit with updated rooms. A lovely retreat, it certainly reminds you why the area was once so popular. For those in the know, it still is.

Olde Stonewall Golf Club- Ellwood City, PA
Before playing the course, I really didn't know what to think of Olde Stonewall. The whole Medieval theme, complete with a castle clubhouse, felt a bit contrived and gimmicky; giving the impression of more show than actual substance. However, given the reviews, and my proximity to the course that weekend, I decided to give it a shot, despite the steep greens fees. It was excellent.

The Settlers Inn- Hawley, PA
I love The Settlers Inn. It just does everything right. First, it is unbelievable quaint, which is absolutely required in an inn. Second, it also has a large fireplace in the lobby, along with a cozy bar tucked away in a corner. Third, the grounds are magnificent, with a lush garden, hammocks, firepits, and an outdoor dining pavilion.

Ledges Hotel- Hawley, PA
The Ledges Hotel is all about the great outdoors. Yes, it is a fabulous reuse project, situated in a fun old factory, but its location and grounds steal the show. With several spaces overlooking the magnificent Wallenpaupack Falls, you won't want to stay inside for long.

Old Course @ Omni Bedford Springs- Bedford, PA
As its name would suggest, the Old Course at Bedford Springs is indeed old. Dating to 1895, the A.W. Tillinghast design was later updated by Donald Ross and Ron Forse.
