El Arco- Cabo San Lucas, MX
There are few geologic features as fabulous, or well known, as Cabo's El Arco. Carved by centuries of strong ocean currents swirling around the tip of Baja California, a cruise around the arch is not to be missed.

Miami Architecture Cruise- Miami, FL
Miami is home to ridiculous wealth and fabulous houses- anyone who remembers Miami Vice knows that as fact. Over the last few decades, the stakes have only been raised, with more modern designs, and more expensive properties. With an absolutely fabulous skyline, and stunning waterfront homes tucked away on exclusive islands, the best way to take them in is by boat, with a Pina Colada in hand. If you don’t have one, rent one, or take one of the many architecture cruises available. There are far worse ways to spend the day- just remember sunscreen.

Danube Cruise- Melk, Austria
To be clear, I am not speaking of the Danube cruises advertised on PBS, prior to Downton Abbey. I am sure those are wonderful if you are in your twilight years, and need travel to be made as easy as possible. However, having been at museums when those groups arrive en masse, I can attest it is a disruptive nightmare, from which you can only beat a hasty retreat. So, no, not that. Thankfully, there is a wonderful 2.5 hour cruise, which you can conveniently book through the railroad. Same sights, no crowded chaos. Perfect. Start your adventure in Vienna, taking an early train to Melk. When you purchase your…

Sunset Cruise- Santorini, Greece
As I have mentioned a time or two (or ten), I do love a scenic cruise. It is hard to beat a few hours out on the water, under the warm summer sun. Gentle ocean breezes, cool drinks, and wide open water. I seek these excursions out, and will take them whenever I can. I have yet to be disappointed, except when we got bumped off the boat in Hawaii due to overbooking. I am still salty about that. However, perhaps the best cruise I have ever taken departed from the Greek island of Santorini; it spent several hours exploring the archipelago’s bays and volcanoes, before literally sailing off into…

Whale Watching- Plymouth, MA
On a sunny summer day there are few places better to be than on the water. If while on the water you are able to spot the most majestic of marine mammals, you managed to make a good day even better. Just off the coast of Cape Cod sits one of the most fertile feeding grounds in the Atlantic; with water stocked full of mackerel, herring and krill, a wide variety of whales summer in the area before fleeing south in the fall to mate. Watching the intricate choreography that unfolds when these impressive creatures feed is something not to be missed.
