Salzburg, Austria
Salzburg may just be the most beautiful city in all the land. It certainly looks like something out of a fairy tale, complete with a castle perched on high. It is easy to explore on foot, and has something for everyone. Beautiful scenery, glorious gardens, amazing architecture, and charming cafes…not to mention the music. It is, in short, magical. Danube Cruise- Melk, Austria
To be clear, I am not speaking of the Danube cruises advertised on PBS, prior to Downton Abbey. A closer look at the mountain reveals movement, and a glint of metal; a cable car rises from the valley below, transporting eager hikers to the peak 1320 meters above. Since 1961 the Untersbergbahn has been zipping up the mountain at a swift 7 m/s, terrifying those with even a vague fear of heights. With as much as 286 meters between you…

Schonbrunn Palace- Vienna, Austria
Palaces, gardens and parks are things European cities do exceptionally well. Vienna, the centuries old cultural center, should be considered the gold standard. By far, one of the most impressive palaces in all the land is Schonbrunn. The garden there isn’t half bad either. Of course I jest. It’s beyond amazing.
