Set on 300 acres atop Hogback Mountain, Stone Tower has all the characteristics of a great winery. With scenery for days, two beautifully designed tasting venues, and plenty of outdoor space, it works even during these trying times of COVID and social distancing.
Fortunately, Stone Tower’s attributes are far more than superficial; boasting a perfect mix of steep slopes, constant airflow, and great drainage provided by a Silty Loam soil, the terroir is perfect for growing great grapes. Starting with 22 acres of vines in 2009, the vineyard’s first release was in 2013.
Like many other wineries, they offer selections produced with grapes sourced from other vineyards, now bottled under their Wild Boar label. For those interested in wines grown, produced and bottled on the property, stick to their Estate collection, which includes a fabulous 2018 Sauvignon Blanc and a 2017 Hogback Mountain Blend, a smooth red that includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot grapes.
