While Stephen King himself may have fled to Florida, he still owns the fabulous red 1858 turreted Italianate on West Broadway in Bangor. Now serving as an archive and writer’s retreat, it retains whimsical features that reflect King’s personality, and make the property perpetually staged for Halloween.
