Sandwich Boardwalk- Sandwich, MA

A well placed boardwalk is worth its weight in gold. Often providing access to environmentally fragile areas, these slightly raised walkways allow you to experience an ecosystem, without substantially impacting it. Since 1875, the Sandwich Boardwalk has provided dry passage over Mill Creek and across the marsh, granting pedestrian access to Town Beach.

Though the 1350 foot walkway was virtually destroyed by Hurricane Bob in 1991, it was rebuilt to the original design, with planks sponsored by the local community. Off season, it is a magical space, where the world still feels wild, and ruled by the tides.
