River Marsh Golf Course- Cambridge, MD
Based on the course’s location, I was expecting more Choptank River adjacent holes. That was a mistake. While kept in good condition, overall the course was just average, and not worth its resort course price in my option.
Designed by Keith R. Foster in 2002, the course largely caters to those staying at the adjacent Hyatt resort. Winding through the wetlands of the Choptank river, the course really only has three memorable holes, those that are actually along the river. Additionally, there is also residential construction occurring along several holes, so sometime in the near future, you’ll be playing among townhouses. You’ve been warned.
Don’t get me wrong- the course is interesting enough to play if you find yourself staying at the hotel and want an afternoon away from your kids- it just doesn’t rise to the level of a course I would travel for. The clubhouse also was in the middle of something, perhaps a remodel, and only prepackaged items or really basic hotdogs were available. Yet another disappointment. If I found myself in the area again, I would just play Queenstown.
