New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill- Boylston, MA
The New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill is 171 acres of absolute awesomeness. Featuring 18 distinct gardens, miles of walking trails, and fantastic scenic overlooks, Tower Hill is an absolute green dream.
Although this location only dates to 1986, the Worcester County Horticultural Society, who founded the gardens, is the third oldest horticultural society in the United States (1842). Developed on the site of a former dairy farm, the property is also home to several historic structures, including a circa 1740 Colonial farmhouse. The slightly newer garden cottage, with a perfect stone fireplace, is impossibly quaint, and will have you dreaming of moving to the country.
Exploring the property could easily take all day. Fortunately, they have a fabulous café onsite, featuring several hyperlocal farm to table options. Truly a fantastic escape, you’ll forget you are only miles from Worcester.
