Karlo Estates- Wellington, ON

With over 40 wineries in Prince Edward County, it takes some research to pick the perfect tasting room- or just visit Karlo Estates and spend that time tasting wine. 

The current owners purchased the property in 2005, with the first grapes (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Frontenac Noir) planted in 2006. Wine production started in 2008, with the winery opening its doors in 2010. The area’s limestone clay loam and cool climate proved perfect for producing a quality wine, and the venture was successful. 

While the wine here is fabulous (don’t miss the bubbles), the 1805 post and beam barn tasting room steals the show. Rustic yet refined, the winery’s cozy speakeasy is the perfect place to spend an afternoon.
