Inn at Perry Cabin (Summer)- St. Michaels, MD

Years ago, I visited the Inn at Perry Cabin in January. I loved the historic property and its riverside location, but quickly realized winter is not the optimal time to visit the Inn (although it is substantially cheaper). I finally returned to the property in the summer of 2022, and it exceeded my expectations.

I always struggled with the Inn’s steep in season room rates, however, once Pete Dye’s final golf course became available to guests, I was willing to splurge for the opportunity to play the otherwise private Links at Perry Cabin. I was also intrigued by the opportunity to charter a sailboat, and spend a day exploring the Miles River and Chesapeake Bay, while sipping Champagne. Both experiences were absolutely amazing, and worth every penny.

The property itself shines in the summer, with acres of manicured lawns, gardens and secluded spots. Guided tours of the grounds are available, and include the kitchen garden, which supplies the hotel’s lauded restaurant with fresh herbs and vegetables. If you choose to dine offsite, it is an easy walk into town.

After my first visit to Perry Cabin, I was unsure if I would ever return, but I am certainly glad I did. The weekend was magnificent, and the property proved to be the escape we were looking for. Make sure to book a waterview room, and a sailboat charter- you will not regret it.
