Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort- Cambridge, MD
I will preface this post by admitting we are not this resort’s target audience. I could tell from the reviews and hotel website that the property was more geared toward families and children, but thought during the shoulder season it might be fun for a weekend getaway. Don’t make that mistake. This is not the location for a couples escape.
First things first- this hotel is in no way located on the Chesapeake Bay. Nevertheless, the location is fabulous. The waterfront grounds, though not maintained, are beautiful- just expect a lot of bird poo, that apparently is never hosed off.
Second, only stay at this Hyatt location if you have children, or are attending a wedding or conference. That is what this property exists for, and what it is designed for. There are children literally everywhere, including the lounge and at the bar, at all times. The walls are thin, so even if you didn’t bring your own toddler, you’ll feel like you did when the one in the next room has a meltdown at 6 am. Relaxing.
To be fair, our room was otherwise comfortable, and we had a wonderful view. Oddly, most waterview rooms only have a Juliet balcony though, so expect to enjoy the view standing. The room décor was very generic, but in line with what you would expect at a large, mid-level resort. Dining in the late spring was very limited, and in no way memorable.
Lastly, in no way would I call this a golf resort. There is a decent, albeit expensive, golf course at the resort, but it should not be why you book a room. You will be disappointed. I am sure there are people who love this resort, but it just didn’t work for us.
