Dating to 1930, the Cleveland Botanical Garden is one of the oldest in the United States. Although originally located in a converted boathouse on Wade Park Lagoon, it moved to the former site of the Cleveland Zoo in 1966.
A $50 million 2003 expansion added a 17,000 square foot conservatory, designed by Graham Gund Architects, home to over 350 species of plants and hundreds of butterflies. Outside, there are 10 acres of gardens and woodlands, which offer a retreat from the surrounding city. It also has a fabulous gift shop, for all your gardening needs.
