Vineyards & Wine
-
Flat Rock Cellars- Jordan, ON
There are an unbelievable amount of wineries in the Niagara region. Just as unbelievable is the quality of the wine, which is not limited to the super sweet ice variety.
-
Hillsborough Winery & Brewery- Hillsboro, VA
To be honest, I didn't like any of the wines I sampled at Hillsborough. That said, I would absolutely return to try their craft beer, because it's a beautiful property, inside and out.

Early Mountain Vineyard- Madison, VA
Early Mountain Vineyard in many ways feels like a really nice restaurant that makes good wine. The food program here is just about the best I have ever experienced at a vineyard- which makes sense, as their chef previously worked at the illustrious Inn at Little Washington.

Crimson Lane Vineyards- Linden, VA
Crimson Lane is probably the most stunning winery on the East Coast. It is definitely the most striking I have visited in the Mid Atlantic region. It also limits large parties, doesn't allow animals, and is adult only- so for me, the perfect place to spend an afternoon.

Boxwood Estate Winery- Middleburg, VA
Middleburg, a quaint equestrian town just outside of D.C., is home to dozens of wineries; in fact, the industry is so prominent, it has its own AVA, which includes more than 30 wineries. Boxwood, located just outside of town, focuses on reds produced in the Bordeaux tradition.
