National Gallery of Canada- Ottawa, ON
Although a fan of landscape paintings, I had never heard of the Group of Seven or Tom Thomson before moving to Canada. However, after a visit to the McMicheal Canadian Art Collection, I was hooked. While the Art Gallery of Ontario holds an impressive collection of their work, some of the Group's most famous works are displayed in the National Gallery of Canada- the perfect excuse for a trip to Ottawa.

1000 Islands Helicopter Tours- Gananoque, ON
Despite the name, there are actually 1864 islands in the Thousand Islands archipelago, some American, some Canadian. Spread over 50 miles in the Saint Lawrence River, the best way to see them all is by helicopter.

Pink Jeep Tour- Sedona, AZ
I tend to avoid tourist activities when I travel, especially ones that identify you as a tourist. So, despite visiting Sedona many times over the years, I never took a Pink Jeep Tour. It seemed silly. Then I did, and realized I had definately been missing out.

McMichael Canadian Art Collection- Kleinburg, ON
Much like the Hudson River School before them, the Group of Seven painted what they loved. In their case, it was the Canadian Shield, in all its glory. McMichael Gallery not only has a magnificent collection of their work, it is also the final resting place of several of the members.

Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges- La Fortuna, Costa Rica
Admittedly, a hanging bridge park sounds like a tourist trap. A disappointing, commercial enterprise, not worth the time or money. But in the case of Mistico, it is an absolutely enthralling, immersive experience with 15 different bridges (6 hanging) along a two mile trail- which is absolutely worth the price of admission.
