Located on a windswept rocky promontory, the Gothic Revival Cape Elizabeth Light has been protecting Casco Bay since 1874. Its desolate beauty has been inspiring people for almost as long.
Also known as Two Lights, a reference to a now deactivated western tower, the site was immortalized by Edward Hopper in his paintings Lighthouse Hill (1927) and The Lighthouse at Two Lights (1929). Today, the best views are from the water or Dyer Point, a rugged spit of land across from the lighthouse.
