Camden, Maine

Settled by Europeans following the French and Indian war, Camden has a large collection of historic homes and a quaint Main Street. It also has a beautiful harbor, complete with cascade, which has been attracting tourists and seasonal residents since the Gilded Age. 

While I am not one who enjoys cold weather, I enjoy crowds even less. So, while you may not feel your fingers in the winter, you will have the streets to yourself, which provides the perfect opportunity to explore several centuries of architecture in peace.
